Graffiti at Antioch College

It seems like an eternity ago, but earlier this spring I took a long walk around Yellow Springs with my Holga and some Fuji 100 film. I walked around the Antioch College campus mostly. It’s a photogenic place, with lots of surprises.

I love to see the latest art the wall. It changes all the time and it’s usually pretty darned good.

I’ve never seen the “Before I Die” wall before. I love the idea!

And finally, I walked past the Antioch Volunteer Workshop building. I love the graffiti on the two garage doors.

Yellow Springs Walkabout

One of the things that attracted me to Yellow Springs is the walkability. I’m just not a big fan of driving everywhere. Here you can walk just about anywhere you might need to go. And it’s a great place to just wander and see what’s out there.

These are from a plain, old Yellow Springs walkabout.

One Roll, Two Downtowns

Downtown Dayton near the 2nd Street Market

Roll number two of this year’s 52-Rolls Project is from a visit to two downtowns: Dayton and Yellow Springs. (Yeah, I noticed all the twos too.)

Dayton graffiti

I really do need to do more wandering around downtown Dayton. I’m always happy with what I find to photograph when I go there. This particular day was overcast and drizzly and generally miserable. I had ISO 3200 film in the Holga so I figured I’d go with it. The dusty, scratched negatives from my home developing seem to add even more grunge to the photos.

STOP WAR

The other half of the roll was exposed while walking around downtown Yellow Springs. It was a nice sunny day.

The whole roll is on Flickr in the Roll 02 Album. Let me know what you think!

Snow in Yellow Springs

This is my first winter in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and so far it’s been pretty mild. We got a little snow so I thought I’d take a walk and start my 2016 52-Rolls Project off with a roll of expired Ilford SFX 200 loaded in a Holga. The film expired in January 2009 and I developed it myself. Talk about out of practice! I hadn’t developed film since 2013 or so. Anyway, here are some highlights:

I call this “The Chicken Coop House” because it’s a house that started out as a chicken coop. Yep.

This time I’m using a Holga exclusively the project. I thoroughly enjoyed my year with the Film Photography Project’s Debonair. I love crappy plastic cameras, especially medium format ones. The Holga is always so much fun.

As with my earlier 52-Rolls Projects, all of the photos from this roll are in my Flickr Photostream if you’re interested in seeing them.
